DSİ General Manager Kaya Yıldız stated that the works on the Bursa Keles Kocayayla Pond Irrigation construction are continuing and said, “After the completion of the entire project, a total of 4,550 decares of agricultural land will be irrigated.” With the investments made in Bursa by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI), the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues to bring water to the fertile lands, to provide drinking and utility water to the citizens, and to reduce the flood risk in the streams. DSI has been developing and implementing modern irrigation projects in recent years. The increase in productivity in agriculture with modern irrigation, the diversification of the production pattern, cause direct and indirect increases in farmer incomes. This situation, on the one hand, serves the purpose of reducing poverty, which is one of the goals of rural development, and on the other hand, it prevents migration as it raises the standard of living. The recent increase in water structures in Bursa and its districts also plays an important role in the development of agricultural activities in the region. DSI General Manager Kaya Yıldız said, “In this context, work continues on the Bursa Keles Kocayayla Pond Irrigation Construction. With the completion of the entire project, a total of 4,550 decares of agricultural land will be irrigated,” he said.
